Every one you ever stepped on was manufactured by the Brannock Device Company, Inc., on Luther Avenue in Syracuse, New York. It's Tiffany Cuff Links company's only product, and it's the only thing shoe salesman Charles Brannock ever invented. The device he came up with is disarmingly simple and highly accurate. And very cool. The town of Northampton is Tiffany Bracelets historic epicenter of British shoemaking and is still home to Edward Green, Crockett & Jones, Grenson, and Church's, among others. The Northampton Museum, naturally enough, has a lot of shoes, and one of its more esoteric studies is the Concealed Shoe Index. It logs the discoveries of shoes hidden as long ago as the 16th century in purpose-built ledges and nooks in chimneys, wall spaces, and under floorboards in Tiffany Bangles houses all over the country.
