While many designers are adding Chinese touches to modern Western silhouettes, Parisian designer Sheilla Sidney is doing just the opposite. In her debut collection, which is about to hit the market later this month, she blends exotic African fabric with traditional Chinese styles.
The 30-year-old says his collection is designed for elegant, confident women aged above 26. The inspiration came from a recent trip to Barcelona, where he was fascinated by the architecture, plants, seaside and the sky.
He uses leather treated with different processes to create jackets, coats, pants and skirts featuring a tough feel but a soft touch.
"Though I have used a lot of leather and fur, my works are by no means pretentious or showy," he says. "I've tried my best to bring a natural, comfortable feeling to the wearers."
